When we started the Modified Style PDX designs, my mom got some fashion illustration books from the library. I really enjoyed learning how to draw in the fashion way. I drew this picture, and it was my favorite, and people kept complimenting me and my mom on it, and we thought we could put them on t-shirts and iPhone cases! I drew it on lined paper, so my Uncle Joshua took the lines out and made it nice. You can buy my illustration merchandise at my Cafe Press site! I am so excited about all the different things we can get, like water bottles and shopping bags and lunch bags! So many cool things! Go look!

Last year I modeled for my mom who made a dress for Modified Style Portland, and this year I get to be a designer! I am really excited about being a designer this year! With Modified Style, we go pick out our bags of fabric, then have to design with just the fabric that is in the bags. We also get to pick out some notions and lace and buttons to go on it. We got to go to the Fabric Distribution Party on July 25 and pick out our bags of fabric. We put our name in the drawing and even won some sparkley fake fur! My mom and brother are designing too, here we all are, with our bags of fabric! I will post more pictures as I go! The show is September 26 and you can get your tickets here!
The gown I designed got to be in another fashion show my mom was a part of! I was so excited it was showing again! Here are some pictures. If you want to purchase this gown, you can buy it on my mom's Etsy Page. The model, Torrie, unbuttoned the shoulder button at the end of the runway and showed the back. Mom said there was applause! People loved my design! Here's my mom on her designer walk with Torrie in my purple gown!
I made this dress for my mom for Mother's Day. I didn't let her go in her sewing room at all for awhile while I made this, so I did it all myself!
I put it on the dress form and then covered the dress form up so she wouldn't see it. She had to wait until Mother's Day! She loved it! Happy Mother's Day to the Best Mom Ever! My mom was invited to be a part of a fashion show at the ReUse Expo and the people involved in the fashion show got some booth space there too, and I got to sell my things! I walked around and met other people who were selling things, I saw a lot of dresses, and one had a key and a door knob as part of the dress! It was so cool. And for a wig there was old curly telephone cords. There were clocks, and all sorts of things made out of recycled things!
A lot of people came to my booth and I sold a lot of my art! I really felt like a part of a community of people that love art. Then I got to model in the fashion show! Another lady asked me to model one of her vests, so I got to model twice! I felt really happy to be a part of all the people that loved art and love recycled things! I even won a bag and a Chinook Book mobile app! So one day I had this extra fabric and my mom's dress form was empty and I started playing and designed this dress. My mom was so proud of me, she took lots of pictures. I really liked how I made it so it would cover one arm, unless you got hot, then you can take it off and it goes down the back and shows your shoulder! Then, we worked together to sew it, and then it was in one of the fashion shows my mom's things were in! I was so proud of myself!!! |
