I have been wanting a hamster for so long and saving my money from my business and my mom made sure I budgeted enough to also buy food and bedding for him for the future. On Thursday the 5th i got my pet hamster! I was walking home from school and I got home and nobody was there so I went to my neighbors home to see if anyone was home. Everyone was there so they opened the door and asked me to come in. My mom was talking with my neighbors and at first they had the hamster in his cage covered in a towel and they surprised me. At first they thought that I didn't like him but I didn't even see that there was a hamster in the cage. Then I saw his tiny little nose and i just was so excited and it was a Sinterklaas miracle! My mom is Dutch and their tradition is to put out the wooden shoes at night with food and water for Sinterklaas' white horse, and he comes and puts chocolate coins in our wooden shoes!

Our school had a craft fair and I got to be a vendor and I was right in the front of the kids vendor hall.
I sold some of my things, I sold some monsters, earrings and aprons. I sat next to my friend Esme. It was so fun! My mom got to be the Pocket Fairy, where kids go up to her and give her a ticket and she gives them a little gift from her pocket. The next craft fair I did was at Arbor Lodge Coffee shop and I was vending with my friend Aidan. We had lots of fun, I sold some of my big monsters and earrings, and we bought some hot chocolate. When we started the Modified Style PDX designs, my mom got some fashion illustration books from the library. I really enjoyed learning how to draw in the fashion way. I drew this picture, and it was my favorite, and people kept complimenting me and my mom on it, and we thought we could put them on t-shirts and iPhone cases! I drew it on lined paper, so my Uncle Joshua took the lines out and made it nice. You can buy my illustration merchandise at my Cafe Press site! I am so excited about all the different things we can get, like water bottles and shopping bags and lunch bags! So many cool things! Go look! One of my mom's friends asked on Facebook if anyone had kids from 9-18 to be a part of a video for the hospital, and my mom knows how much my brother and I like to act, so she signed us up!
It was for the Behavioral Health Center, so when families and kids have to go there, they can watch this video and not be so scared. I was really happy I got to be a part of this, not only because it was fun, but because it will help families not be so scared during a hard time. When we first got there, we got pizza and soda and sat around a lot and waited, because that's what you do in show business. So then we went into the main area, the parents had to stay down stairs. We weren't allowed to wear shoes. My brother got to play video games and I got to read a book and they took video of us doing that. Then we got to play outside for awhile, and our parents came out to watch. I drew on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk, and talked to the therapist and my brother tossed football. It was so easy and fun and we got to meet some other really great people and do service for the community! Last year I modeled for my mom who made a dress for Modified Style Portland, and this year I get to be a designer! I am really excited about being a designer this year! With Modified Style, we go pick out our bags of fabric, then have to design with just the fabric that is in the bags. We also get to pick out some notions and lace and buttons to go on it. We got to go to the Fabric Distribution Party on July 25 and pick out our bags of fabric. We put our name in the drawing and even won some sparkley fake fur! My mom and brother are designing too, here we all are, with our bags of fabric! I will post more pictures as I go! The show is September 26 and you can get your tickets here!
The gown I designed got to be in another fashion show my mom was a part of! I was so excited it was showing again! Here are some pictures. If you want to purchase this gown, you can buy it on my mom's Etsy Page. The model, Torrie, unbuttoned the shoulder button at the end of the runway and showed the back. Mom said there was applause! People loved my design! Here's my mom on her designer walk with Torrie in my purple gown!
Oh my goodness, I was so excited, we got to be extras in a weather commercial for Fox12 in Portland! They gave us bags and water bottles and my mom got a coffee cup! I always wanted to be in a show where they say "action!" and they said it and we acted! We got to kick the soccer ball around the yard and my mom had her van and was unloading groceries. You can see the final video HERE. We got to get out of school early and Mom even took us to Burgerville afterwards! They have gluten free buns now! It was so much fun! The second one we did was dress up like it was the end of summer and they took pictures of us and put it all together like we were getting on a bus. You can see the Fox 12 Weather Promo: Commuter Guide here. My mom and I got a booth at the ADX Makers bazaar called Gifted 2, Still Giftin' on December 15 and 16. I had SO much fun and sold so many of my things! I made a bunch of new things for it like head bands and bracelets and paintings. My mom upcycled this cool apron for me for my money so I could give change easily, I loved it! There were so many other amazing people that made really cool things. I got my mom a Christmas gift there but I can't tell what it is yet. There were also lots of yummy treats we ate and even gluten free things so that was really exciting. Here is my mom and I being goofy the last day as it was getting slow. It was really cold.
Also, I learned to crochet a bit more from the lady next to me, she was really fun to hang out with, and I got a shirt for my brother for Christmas from her too! This Saturday December 1, 2012 I am going to be at Arbor Lodge coffee shop for their neighborhood craft bazaar. You can meet me because I am having a little table and I am going to sell some of my art and new art too! And it is a craft fair and don't go there at the day time looking for the craft fair because it's at night 6:00 to 10:00! Ok! And hope to see you there!
My mom and one of her friends decided to go to this event called All Stars of the New Economy by Supportland and it was at ADX, where my mom just got a working membership so we got to check it out! We picked up mom's friend and her daughter, and we all went to ADX. When we first got there, we got a name tag that said "ask me about" and I filled in "my art and my website" and my name. I remembered to bring my business cards in a little bag that I made! I got to sign this giant fabric sign as a commitment for shopping locally this holiday season! So then we went over to the next booth and wrote on a chalk board which local shop we like to go to and then we take a picture of it, and I wrote Scrap! Because I love shopping there! Then there was a DJ and he did the robot and all sorts of other stuff, it was pretty cool. There was a kids craft table and we made card board stars. There is a special kind of glue, and you put glitter on it, and you heat it up and it turns into metallic. My little sister says it's like magic! I made a lot of stars and I put them around my head and I looked like the queen of stars!
I talked to lots of people! I handed out lots of business cards, it was fun to see what other people know about. There were some tattoo drawings on the wall, I liked those. There was a lot of pizza and peanut butter jelly sandwiches. I danced to the dj's music, there was all this different music, it was really cool and amazing, I loved it! Thank you Supportland and ADX, it was great being there with you guys! |
